How to "cut" a shape out of Keyshot's mesh texture?

Hi everyone!

I got the following issue:
I got a shape (here: a circle) and want to cut it out of the given mesh material of Keyshot (e.g. “Aluminum Rough 10mm Circular Mesh”).
I tried several variations - but it doesn’t seem to work.

I know, I could add a simple circle via “Edit” - “Add Geometry” and apply the shape of the mesh to it… but what if I do want a more complex shape next time?

Any idea how to solves this is highly appreciated!
I think I’m just sitting on my brain. 🫣

This what I’m aiming at (but the black part should be transparent):

Here’s the jpg-file for the opacity map:

Looks like you need opacity map here. Create it as simple 2D image in any program, place in material graph as texture and attach to opacity channel of mesh material.
Other, more complex and less reliable solution is use 3D object with ‘cutaway’ material assigned to it, but in most cases opacity mask is enough.

Wow… thanks a lot for your help, @oleksii.rybakov!
That’s exactly what I was looking for!
I forgot to define the Mesh as opaque! 🫣
Now it works perfectly… again, many thanks!
